Cheesasaurus Rex at the Olympics

The mind works in mysterious ways. And none more mysterious than mine 😝

Last night this was my train of thought…

I started thinking about the Olympics and how cool it is that gymnastics has come such a long way. Back in the 90’s when I was growing up watching the gymnastics at the Olympics, the atmosphere always seemed so tense and overly competitive between the Americans and the Russians/Romanians, and now here we are in 2024 with Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles bowing to Rebeca Andrade for her well-deserved gold on floor. Say what you will about the younger generation but there are a lot of things they’re getting right 💕

Thinking about the 90’s Olympics made me think of the Dream Team and how cool that was that so many huge basketball stars came together, and all of the different ads on TV featuring them, and different merchandise.

Thinking about the merchandise unlocked a vague memory in my mind of this Kraft Macaroni and Cheese character toy I used to have that was wearing a Dream Team uniform. But that sounds crazy, right?

Thinking about it further made me remember that he was orange.

Thinking about it even further made me realize that an orange Kraft Macaroni and Cheese character wearing a Dream Team uniform is a very specific memory to have, so it must have been something, right?

Thinking about that led to me doing a Google search in the middle of the night as I was trying to fall asleep because I could not let it slide.

And sure enough, I found this dude: Cheesasaurus Rex. How could I have forgotten such a fabulously 90’s mascot as this? 😸 I think he was bendy and my mom sent away for him in the mail with the UPC box tops, because of course she did, haha.

You may wonder how I come up with all of the things in my art and stories and maybe this helps to explain a little bit more how my mind really works 🌈🐯
